You’re probably eager to get to these reviews, but I thought I’d tell you a little about myself first.

Shockingly enough, although I’m known as the Brew Coffee Base, I’m not really royalty at all. Not yet, at least. I guess we’ll have to see what happens, right?

My real name is John Thomason. And although the Queen hasn’t granted my title just yet, I do know a thing or two about coffee. I also know enough about coffee-related equipment to help you choose the coffee maker or espresso machine that best fits your needs.

I was born in tiny Nashville, Indiana, but I now live in Brecksville, Ohio. With the help of my wife, I do all the product testing you’ll read about here in our home, either right in the kitchen or the workshop I built to inspect equipment out in the garage.

Here’s the thing about grandfather’s restaurant– you could always count on a decent breakfast or lunch there, but the place was known throughout Southern Indiana for its rotating varieties of whole bean and ground coffee. He sold it by the cup, the pound, or whatever amount you could fit in the back of your truck. My grandfather did the roasting himself, and I picked up a few things about the process before my family moved away.

I might not roast my own beans anymore– my grandfather let me take a few turns doing it myself– but I definitely know how to make a delicious cup of coffee. I also know how to assess the quality of coffee makers and espresso machines. But it’s my passion for coffee that provides the spark for the thorough reviews you’ll find on the Brew Coffee Base website.

What I lack in real expertise, I make up for with a devotion to sharing my experiences with making great (and not so great) coffee. As you’ll see in the reviews themselves, I also have a way of making my product descriptions accessible to everyone. That’s why it’s my readers that reap the benefits of my knowledge.
